Does your vinyl siding have this problem?
They say vinyl is final. But nothing is final. If by lightly rubbing your siding, you lift off a chalky residue, then your siding is Oxidized. Don’t worry, everything is in a state of oxidation – sort of. Oxidation is just the tell tale signs of weathering, mainly from the sun. After 10 years or so of sun beating down on your house, the oxidation will become evident. The south facing side is worst, of course, because it catches the most rays.
Some colors tend to be worse than others too. Light grey being the most prone to oxidation. The best colors seem to be white and yellow. There is nothing you can really do to prevent your siding from oxidation. It is just part of having vinyl siding.
One thing to be sure of, however. If you have oxidized siding and you let someone pressure wash it who doesn’t know what they’re doing, it will look like this:
Better to call a company who specializes in low-pressure SoftWashing.
Heritage Pressure Washing is an exterior cleaning company that provides pressure washing services to the Jacksonville NC area.
